Call of Duty Drinking Game

Players: 1-??

PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC

Call of Duty is a long time drinking game favorite, at least in my circle. But we could just be alcoholics. We mainly like to muffle our yelling at the television and each other with beer and fireball. With that said, there are tons of different ways to drink with this game, and there’s a lot of different versions of this game. Feel free to take any rules and adjust them for whatever is best suited to you. The main idea is to establish a base model for your consumption needs. Black Ops III is the main reference for the game, but most of the rules apply to any.

This will mainly revolve around deaths. There are plenty of different games to make for individual play modes, but there’s a lot of those, and we’re lazy.

No Man’s Sky Drinking Game

Players: 1

PS4, PC

After two long years of waiting, No Man’s Sky is finally here. Hundreds of pretty pictures and mesmerizing teaser videos later, we can finally wander aimlessly through a nearly -literally- endless universe (if you find Pokemon themes in specific star systems, there’s a good chance they’re mine).

monolith no man's sky

IT’S. SO. FUCKING. PRETTY.

I’ve spent probably a little over 10 hours with the game at this point, so I feel like I am at a good place to develop a drinking game for this massive endeavor. Obviously, there’s plenty of possibilities I’m going to miss out on for recurring drink options, but that’s what the comments are for or whatever editing I feel like doing later.

Given the nature of the game, a lot of these drinks will be self-inflicted, but that’s what we want to do anyway, right? Now, to get lost and drunk in the middle of 18  fucking quintillion planets.

-Hopefully this drinking game hones your jetpack skills quick-

Final Fantasy X Drinking Game

Players: 1

PS2, PS3, PS4

Final Fantasy X first landed in this world in 2001, and I have probably been obsessed with it ever since. It’s the first game I can recall that pulled me in for anything other than gameplay. The storytelling and music opened up a whole new concept of what a video game could be in my young mind.

final fantasy x anniversary

RPGs such as this might not be considered typical drinking or party games, but we’re not here to discriminate. To honor Final Fantasy X’s 15 year anniversary, here is a drinking game to help you get sloshed on your next playthrough. It’s a more story-dependent drinking game, since there is a lot of it. Might contain minor spoilers:

Fallout 4 Drinking Game

Players: 1

PS4, Xbox One, PC

Fallout 4 is a large and highly engaging experience, so much in as that you can easily spend most of your time doing things besides fighting or following the main quest. I mean, you can build goddamn skyscrapers, or you can spend all of your time trying to bang your companions.

So, when you take this into account, there are a number of ways the game can really be played. Given that, I’ve decided to break the drinks into separate categories. The numbers are high, but they need to be in order to get enough drinks in your system, simply because there is never a guarantee that any one of these things is going to happen in any given 10 minute period. This is more of a casual drink-as-you-go game, but you can certainly make adjustments to the rules below if you really want to get trashed.

Rocket League Drinking Game

Players: 1-8 online (1-4 local)

PS4, Xbox One, PC

Rocket League is a killer, fresh online multiplayer experience with a simplistic concept: let’s play soccer – or hockey or basketball – with rocket-fucking-powered race cars. As with any online multiplayer experience, there’s plenty of shit talking and bashing and frustrating lag moments, but it also provides one of the most addicting and drink-worthy experiences I’ve encountered. It’s easy to start playing but very difficult to master. Luckily, our drinking game applies straight from the start.

Points For Drinks – 2+ Players

As you start playing Rocket League, you’ll notice you earn points for different achievements as the match goes on. Respectively, the main focus of this drinking game is to give drinks to the other people you’re playing with depending on what you accomplish during the game. The following chart displays how many drinks to give out for each accomplishment:

Action Drinks Description

Someone Complains About Lag:  They Take 3 Drinks

Rocket League end match stats

Playing On Your Own / Hardcore Mode

These rules are a bit more simplified if you’re just playing and drinking on your own, but it does include a couple of the rules from above. You can modify what is a drink from a shot, if you like, but I prefer to go harder if I’m just playing myself.

Opposing Team Scores: Take Shot/Drink

You Are Destroyed: Take Shot/Drink

Intermission Between Goals: Chug!

Another Player Somehow Insults You: Take 5 Drinks For Comfort

Lost a Game: Shot

Win a Game: 1 Drink For Every 100 Points Scored by Their MVP

X-COM: Enemy Within Drinking Game

Players: 2-6

PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC

X-COM is an excellent turn-based RPG focused around training soldiers to fight the incoming alien threat. Soldiers are highly customizable and level up through a skill tree as they advance in military rank. One of the notable features of the game is that when a solider dies in the field, they are dead forever – if you don’t restart the game in rage.

For our drinking game, it’s a long play. The drinks start off slow if you’re starting from the very beginning, but they quickly start to ramp up after you get through the introductory phase. If you’re looking for a good hammering, you can get a game started before going into the bingeing streak.

The Set Up

The main feature we’re using to exploit drinks in X-COM is character creation and management. What you want to do after getting through the tutorial phase is create characters for each player. Depending on how many people you have playing, you’ll want to make multiple variations of each player. It is best if you make an equal amount for each player.

After creating your characters, you want to find missions to go on. You want to make sure an equal number of each player are going on the mission. Now, the fun begins…

10

Drinks

Your character hits an enemy: Give the amount of damage you hit with – up to the end of the enemy’s health bar. If you hit the enemy for 6 damage, but it only has 4 health remaining, give 4 drinks.

Your character is hit: Take as many drinks as you’re hit for, up to the amount of health you have remaining (same as rule above).

Your character scores a critical hit: Take a recoil drink for yourself – you deserve it.

Go a round with no damage either way: Social

Shots

Your character dies – Take

Your character is promoted – Give

You generate friendly fire – The person controlling and the person’s character hit both take

Extreme Mode

Take off remaining health limitations on drinks.

Drink every time anyone says “Commander.” (via @HettyTheChemist)

Now go and enjoy X-COM the best way possible!
